Introduction

The parish church of Blyth represents the parochial part of the priory church that was founded in the late 11th century and modified in the later middle ages. The priory buildings, including the east end of the church, have been lost. The late Gothic west tower is still visible from the Great North Road, although the course of the road has been changed to bypass the village.
