Boughton St Matthew

Stonework

The church is built of Steetley stone with ashlar facings of the characteristic yellow Ancaster stone from South Lincolnshire provided externally, erected on rendered red brick footings to the external leaf. This fine red brickwork continues generally for the internal leaf with blue brick enhancements.

Internal arches and other stone detail work is in evidence with interesting capital corbels to the chancel arch.

Some stone replacements have been made to the walls and details at various times with a varying type of stone material.
