War Memorial

The war memorials are mounted on the south wall of the nave.

A wooden plaque from the chapel at RAF Finningley. It was donated to the church when the RAF base closed in 1995. At the top of the plaque is the Royal Air Forge badge with a quotation from Isaiah 40:31 below:

THEY THAT WAIT UPON THE LORD
SHALL RENEW THEIR STRENGTH
THEY SHALL MOUNT UP WITH WINGS
AS EAGLES

Immediately below the RAF plaque is a brass plaque commemorating the men of the parish who were killed in the Second World War:

TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN THE MEMORY OF THOSE OF FINNINGLEY
AUCKLEY AND BLAXTON WHO SACRIFICED THEIR LIVES IN THE
SECOND WORLD WAR
1939 – 1945
