Hoveringham St Michael

List of Incumbents

At some time after 1140 Hoveringham Parish Church was given by Robert de Hoveringham to the nearby Augustinian Priory at Thurgarton, the adjoining parish. Both parishes were granted by Henry VIII to Trinity College, Cambridge in 1546. The two parishes were often served by a single curate, from at least that date. The list dates that a curate was known to be in-post. This may not be the year of induction or departure and interregnums of varying length may have been fairly common.
