Grade II

Parish church. 1833, in Norman Revival style, by A. Poynter for G. S. Foljambe. Ashlar with graduated slate roofs and ashlar dressings. West tower, nave and chancel under continuous roof, north and south aisles. West tower 3 stages, has chamfered plinth, shallow corner buttresses, 2 moulded string courses, 2 lintel bands, modillioned eaves, crenellated parapet with 4 octagonal pinnacles with spire caps and wind vanes. First stage has to west, doorway of 2 orders with various capitals, roll moulded head with zigzag and scallop bands, and hood mould. Above, round headed panel with shafts and chevron infill. To north and south, single leaded window with shafts with cushion capitals, hood mould and carved imposts. Second stage has 3 similar windows and third stage has on each side 2 paired bell openings of 2 orders with colonettes with block capitals and moulded heads. Nave and chancel have sill and impost bands, corner buttresses with square pier above, and coped east gable with cross. Clerestorey has 6 windows and 5 blocked openings with round heads and shafts. East end has 3 windows with shafts with plain capitals, roll moulded heads and hood moulds with scallop stops. Above, inscription 'MDCCCXXXIII' and above again, small opening with shafts. North and south aisles, 4 bays, have 5 buttresses, sill and impost bands and coped parapet. Each side has 3 windows with single shafts and plain capitals and hood moulds. East and west ends have each a single similar window, those to west blocked. South aisle has to right, doorway with shafts with moulded bases and incised capitals; roll moulded shouldered opening. Above, tympanum inscribed 'Heb. XXXII, Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith'. Nave has 3 bay arcade with 2 circular piers each side, with incised octagonal capitals. At west end, Classical timber screen with Ionic pilasters and cornice serving as war memorial. Above, panelled gallery with Royal Arms and integral organ case. Moulded and turned queen post roof on corbels. Chancel north side has doorway. East end has panelled timber reredos with upper traceried panels, flanked by painted iron commandment boards and similar boards with Creed and Lord's Prayer. East window has stained glass with Arms. Fittings include plain C20 pews, reading desk with traceried panels, octagonal pulpit with traceried panels, Norman Revival style oak lectern and eggcup font on square base. Various C19 and C20 memorials.

HaHa. C19, to south of church. Coursed squared rubble with rebated ashlar cornice and single flanking piers with vase finials. To east, pair of gate posts. C19. Cast iron. Ornate wrought iron gate and overthrow with lamp bracket. Included for group value only.
