Open Churches Weekends 2012

NEWS FROM CHRIST CHURCH, NEWARK

Crazy golf at Christ Church!

Christ Church on Boundary Road will be opening its doors next week as part of the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham’s Open Weekend initiative crazy golf as one of the lead attractions.

The Anglican church, led by its Vicar Revered Sam Tredwell, will be taking part for the first time. Sam says: “Christ Church is a youngster in the Diocese being only 54 years old. The Open Churches weekend is a great chance to show everybody what we’re about.”

Sam hopes the event will introduce people not only to Christ Church but also the surrounding area and welcome any newcomers to Newark.

“Boundary Road is a thriving community and the church plays a really important role here. It would be great to welcome anyone new, just for a chat, a pray or to book a wedding or christening.”

The large church grounds will be made full use of, with a specially built Crazy Golf set. Made by local parishioners Tony Yates and Ted Overstreet-Inman and thought up by the vicar, there will be nine rounds around the grounds for people to try their hand at. Refreshments and ice creams will be available with the opportunity to learn lots more about all the various activities that take place in the Church and its nearby hall.

Christ Church and its grounds will be open Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th July and Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd July. Saturdays 10 to 4pm and Sundays 12 noon to 4pm.

Sam concludes: “we’re a dynamic community at Christ Church always keen to welcome anyone new. Please do come along and find out what we’re all about.”
