The Open Churches Project...welcome!...
The Church of England recognises the importance of our historic church buildings to Nottinghamshire’s tourism and is pursuing a number of initiatives to make them more accessible to tourists, pilgrims and local people. Through the production of tourist literature from completed church research we aim to raise the awareness of the local heritage value of these buildings, and encourage partnerships between church communities and a wider audience.
• Annual Open Churches Weekends welcome in visitors from a wide spectrum. • Individual church leaflets guide visitors around the building. • Themed leaflets inspire visitors to venture on various church trails.
