Details of carvings on the font

Font

The Italian font is of marble and alabaster with six sides. On the sides there are groups in white marble of Jesus with children, Mary with Jesus as a babe, and the boy John the Baptist.

Oak pulpit

Lectern

The carved wooden lectern, known as the Peace Memorial Lectern, was donated to the church as a war memorial. On the stem is a carved figure of the Good Shepherd, with sheep at His feet. The front frieze has the letters A and O (Alpha and Omega) entwined in the pattern.

The reredos above the altar has three scenes:

  The nativity
Middle
  Christ bursting from the tomb
Right
  John the Baptist baptizing Christ

The whole can be enclosed with the hinged doors.

Other items

An oak case which houses a memorial book for cremations and burials to be recorded. It was dedicated in 2005 in memory of Miss Pamela Walsh who was tragically killed in late 2004. Pamela attended the church for many years and always gave great support to other activities in the East Leake Benefice.

Two churchwardens staves. These were dedicated in memory of Ronald Gordon Jackson who was for 25 years churchwarden and during the war was in the 8th Army (Leicestershire Yeomanry). He was drowned whilst swimming in the sea near Mablethorpe on 19th August 1983.
