Parish church. C13, C14, reconstructed c.1864 by G. F. Bodley. Ashlar, with evidence of coursed rubble at the base. Tiled roofs with decorated ridge and ridge crosses to chancel and porch. Tower, nave, north and south aisles, south porch and chancel. The church is buttressed and has a string course running under the windows and over the south chancel door, it is interrupted by the porch and does not extend to the west end of the north aisle or the tower. The C13 and C14 tower, of 2 stages with string course at the junction, has to the west on the 1st floor a single lancet window with hoodmould over and label stops. To the bell tower are four 2-light traceried windows with hoodmoulds. The embattled tower has 4 crocketed pinnacles, guttering runs under with 2 remaining spouts. The west wall of the north aisle has a 2-light arched, traceried window with hoodmould and label stops. The north has a blocked door to the aisle, with hoodmould supported on imposts. There are 2 square headed, traceried windows. The vestry has 2 lancet windows and single ashlar stack, the east wall has a square headed window with tracery. The chancel window is traceried and arched with 3 lights. The south chancel has a door with moulded arch and 2-light square headed window with tracery. The east window of the south aisle is arched and traceried with 3 lights and quatrefoil, there is a hood- mould and label stops. Under the gable is a single quatrefoil with hood- mould. The 2 south aisle windows are both arched with 2 lights and quatre- foil, with hoodmould over. The coped, gabled and diagonally buttressed porch has a single quatrefoil to its east and west side. There is a moulded arch over the porch gate. The west south aisle wall has a 2-light traceried and arched window with hoodmould. The interior porch has a C13 doorway with plain capitals supporting an arch with dogtooth moulding. There is a hood-mould over. Interior. The nave is separated from the aisles by a C13 arcade of 3 bays to either side, having octagonal piers with nailhead moulding on the capitals to the north and cylindrical piers with plain capitals to the south, both supporting chamfered arches. There is an arch to the tower containing the circular font and an arch from the north aisle to the organ chamber. The chancel and nave are separated by a carved oak and gilt screen, c.1890 by Bodley, with an arch over. In the chancel are arches over the south door, the north door to vestry and the organ chamber The furnishings are by Bodley, apart from 3 pews at the back of the north aisle which are C15 with poppyheads and blind tracery to their ends. The chancel has encaustic tiling to the floor, oak choir stalls with brass candlesticks and altar rail with gold decoration. In place of a sedilia is a gold. decorated oak settle with a heavy and elaborately carved canopy over. The gilt;.and coloured reredos is elaborately carved, and has in the centres decorated cross inset with colourless stones. There is an oak and gilt altar table and a piscina to the south wall with encaustic tiles behind. The ceiling has gilt and coloured panels which extend to the top of the walls. On the east wall are fragments of the original wall painting. The stained glass windows are by William Morris, Burne-Jones and Ford Madox Brown.
