War Memorial

Just inside the churchyard a few metres to the left and right of the lych gate are two war memorials. On the left stands a memorial to the fallen of the First World War and Second World War, and on the right stands a memorial to three men who fought at Waterloo.

VALOUR

The IIkeston Pioneer reported in June 1875 of an appeal to raise funds for a memorial to the memory of the three Waterloo men. It was proposed that funds raised were to be received by the family and friends of the men for the memorial. A further article appeared in the Nottingham Express in June 1877, and it seems that the fund raising required the help of prominent members of the district including: The Duke of Cambridge, Earl Cowper, Earl Manvers, Lord Middleton, Lord Newark and Lancelot Rolleston. The sum of over £100 was raised in a very short space of time. On 18th June 1877 Lancelot Rolleston, High Sheriff of Nottingham, unveiled the monument.

Roll of Honour 1939-1945

Inside the church in the north aisle on the north wall, in between the two windows, is a mahogany display case containing an illustrated Roll of Honour dedicated to the men and women of the parish of Cossall who served and those who made the supreme sacrifice during the 1939-1945 World War.
