Churchyard

The churchyard covers an area of 0.9 acres (0.4 hectares) and surrounds the church on all sides. The boundary is formed by a stone and brick walls and hedge. A substantial western extension to the churchyard was made in the early years of the 20th century.

Gravestones of Interest

Ann, the wife of John Swinglehurst, timber merchant of this parish, who died February 5th 1889, aged 62 years

A grave marker to Tom Billyard who died aged 22 on the 22nd October, 1908, at Huthwaite Sidings on the Great Central Railway

A grave marker in memory of the children of Stephen Rose and Elizabeth Haworth (who were presumably unmarried): William died 10th November 1825 aged 6 months; Francis died 24th February 1827 aged 6 months; Elizabeth died 2nd April 1833 aged 8 years
