Gamston
St Peter

War Memorial

In 1924 five bells were rehung in a new frame in the church tower and a sixth bell was added at the same time to commemorate the parishioners who had died in the First World War.

The inscription on a brass plaque located on the west wall of the nave, next to the tower arch, reads:

TO THE GLORY OF GOD
AND
IN HONOURED MEMORY OF THE
FOLLOWING MEN OF GAMSTON,
WHO LAID DOWN THEIR LIVES
IN THE GREAT WAR, 1914-1918.

THE TREBLE BELL
HAS BEEN HUNG IN THIS TOWER.
