Churchyard

The churchyard covers an area of 0.2 hectares (0.5 acres), is roughly shaped like a rhombus, and has burials on all sides ranging from the 18th century onwards. A low stone wall bounds the churchyard on all sides.

There are many good 18th century slate grave markers in the 'Vale of Belvoir' style.

Classical, with shaped head and relief winged cherubs head in an oval, to: Ann wife of Thomas Morley d.1770.

At the south-west corner of tower

Shaped head, with delicate classical decoration of flowers and foliage, to: Thos. Parnham d.1785.

Shaped, with simple decoration, to: Thomas Parnham d.1770.

Shaped, with delicate simple decoration, to: Mary relict of Thomas Parnham d.1801.

Rectangular with round-faced winged angel, to: Mary wife of Tho. Riley d.1724. Also Henry son of the above d.1724 aged 7 years.

Small, rectangular with raised letters and round-faced winged angel, to: Robert Peet d.1724 June 4th aged 42 years.

Small, rectangular with round panel, to: William Bean d. May 7th 1744.

Small, shaped with delicate incised decoration, to: William son of George and Elizabeth Johnson d.1780.

Small, rectangular with moulded surround, to: John Morley son of John and Jane Morley d.1733 aged 6 years.

Tall, shaped with delicate incised decoration and with relief round panel with a woman, an anchor and a skeleton, to: Joseph Arnall d.1795 aged 26 years.

Tall, shaped, classical with delicate incised decoration with half-round relief panel, to: Samuel Arnall d.1806.

Smaller, rectangular, more simple detail, to: Mary daughter of William and Sarah Bateman d.1762 aged 25 years.

(Back to back with above). Small, rectangular, with moulded surround to Elizabeth daughter of Will. and Sarah Bateman d.1746 aged 12 years.

A group of 4 small limestone headstones probably early C18 but indecipherable. One is shaped with 2 relief heads and garlanded sides, another has an oval panel.

Large, rectangular, well-carved, with two skull and cross-bones in corners, to: John Marriott d.1765 aged 79 years.

Rectangular with two round-faced winged angels, divided vertically, to: John son of John Marriott by Martha his wife d.1723 in his 2nd year, and Robert son of above d.1723 aged 2 weeks.

Rectangular, plain, to: Martha Marriott d.1728 in her 32nd year.

Two limestone headstones, almost illegible, probably early 18th century, both with heavy relief carving of heads at top and garlands at sides.

Tapering grave slab south of the nave

A much eroded limestone tapering slab raised in the centre, resembling a coffin lid, with a relief cherub's head on the 'blunt end' - probably 18th century.
