War Memorial

There was no war memorial at the church. However, there is a plaque on the liturgical north wall in memory of brothers Ronald and Wilfred Huckle who were both killed in Italy during the Second World War. The inscription reads:

In Loving Memory of
L/C R.A. Huckle killed in
action Italy Sept 1943 and
Trooper W. Huckle killed in
action Italy Sept 1944 R.I.P.

Ronald was a Lance-Corporal in the Coldstream Guards and was killed on 25 September 1943 aged 22. He is buried in the Salerno War Cemetery. Wilfred was a Trooper in the 12th Tank Regiment, R.A.C. and died on the 14 September 1944 aged 22. He is buried in the Gradara War Cemetery. Their parents lived on Mosley Street, a short distance from the church.

There is also an inscription on one of the windows to Lance-Corporal Frank W. Jackson who was also killed in Italy in 1943.
