Nottingham St MarkChurchyard
St Mark’s setting was such that a small area of land was left on each side. There are no burial registers in Nottinghamshire Archives, but the 1875 faculty application and grant both acknowledge the need to remove and re-site a number of coffins and memorials to allow for the extension of the chancel. Trees and shrubs flanked the curving pathway and filled the ground between the church and the west door. There was least space on the north side of the church and much of the land on the east side was used for the school room.
