The church from the
north-west
The church from the
north-east

The church consists of a three-bay chancel with vestry and a five-bay nave with north and south aisles. It was built in the Early English style.

The church was constructed in several phases. Architect James Fowler was responsible for the three-bay chancel and vestry built during 1886-7. An 'iron nave' was erected in 1892 but by 1908 was in a state of disrepair and had to be shored up with timber. It was replaced in 1909 by a stone-built nave of five bays with north and south aisles designed by Louis Ambler.

A plan of Ambler's, dated February 1910, includes the outline (in dashed lines) of the site of a north-west tower but this was never built.
