PCC secretary (23 years) and Treasurer (29 years).
Beyond this Church he also served for many years on the
Deanery Synod, as Deanery Treasurer, and was a member
of Bishop’s Council and other Diocesan committees.

Six sons and one daughter.
He died June 13th 1770
Aged Sixty five.
This small tribute to his Memory and worth
is paid by his truly affectionate
and sorrowful Widow.

who was one of ye Branches of the family of the
Rollestons of Rolleston in Staffordshire. Hee married One of the
Daughters of GEORGE POOLE of HEGE on the County of Darby Esq.
With whom Hee Liv’d very happily many years until his Death
And for his knowne and Steddy Loyalty to his PRINCE
he was made High Sheriff of this County in the yeare 1682.

A Gent: Generally belov’d in his Country
but especially by his particular acquaintance
Hee was a great Lover of the Person
yet once he Contracted friendship wth
And not given to Change
His carriage was affable and his Conversation Ingenious
and pleasant very Courteous & Friendly to his Neighbours & Charitable
to all that he knew in want
Hee Dyed in the yeare 1685 in the 35th Yeare of his Age
Making his loving Cousen Edwd. Rolleston of Toynton
in ye County of Lincoln: Esq.

Millington Memorial

Millington MemorialLarge white marble monument

Near this place are deposited the Remains of
GILBERT MILLINGTON of Felley Abbey Esq. & SARAH
his wife. He died the second of April 1703, and She
departed this life the 22nd of August 1741.
They had Issue GILBERT, who died the 14th of
May 1694 Aged 14, ELIZABETH married to THOMAS
HOLDEN M.A. Rector of Aston in the County of
Derby, and ALETHEIA, their only surviving Daughter
Relict of CHARLES SAVILE of Methley in the
County of York Esq. by whom this Monument
was erected to the Memory out of filial
Regard & gratitude in the year 1744.

Here lyeth Interred Gilbert ye only son of
Gilbert Millington of Felley Esq. who died
Ye 14th day of May 1694 in ye 14th year of his Age.

Adjacent on the same sill a brass shield with an obliterated coat-of-arms in memory of the wife of Richard Bingham.

Thoroton Transactions Volume II 1907 p 41 states of this:

…and a small brass plate on the cill of one of the chancel windows bearing the following inscription, which it may be well to put on record:- ‘Hic jacet Helena qui fuit uxor Rici Bingham militis unus justicarum de Banco dni regis qui obit xii die mensis ffebruarii ao dni Millium ccccxiviii Cui aie ppiciet dues an.’ There is a brass shield beside it, but the arms are quite worn off. Ralph Rolleston second son of James Rolleston. Esq., of Lea Co. Derby married in the time of Queen Elisabeth Margaret, elder daughter and co-heir of Sir Richard Bingham, of Watnall Chaworth, by Anne his wife, sister and c-heir of Sir Nicholas Strelley of Linby, and thus acquired the manor of Watnall Chaworth, which has ever since continued to be the seat and property of the Rolleston family.

Also the infants their children out of whose issue
still live John Elizabeth and William.
A little family in heaven we hope they make
in bliss or happiness in Jesus sake.

Here also lies the body of John
son of the Rev. W. Wright and Ann his wife
who died February 4th 1767 aged 23 years.

And also the body of the above Rev. William Wright
who died May 3rd 1776 in the 60th year of his age.
