Organ

The organ chamber was built in 1897 in memory of the late George Orton.  On 10 March 1898, a well-attended service was held to mark the occasion of the dedication of the new organ by the Bishop of Southwell.  The Bishop was assisted by the Ven. Archdeacon Lewis, MA; the curate in charge, Andrew Ping MA, and the Bishop's Chaplain, R G Plumptre.  Among those in attendance were the Mayor and Sheriff of Nottingham, as well as the Town Clerk.  The organ, evidently built by the Huddersfield based firm of organ builders, P Conacher, was enlarged in 1933 and later rebuilt by the Nottinghamshire based Henry Groves & Son Ltd in 2002.
