Key to Glass

Glynne (1867) noted the presence of some ‘some fair pieces of old glass’ in a Perpendicular three-light window on the north side of the nave, lost at the 1870 restoration when the north aisle was constructed. He also noted the style of other windows but makes no further mention of their glass.

Three of the glass panels have been replaced, the result of mining subsidence damaging the window: the words ‘Damaged 1955, Restored 1965’ can be seen beneath the figure of St Andrew.
