Underwood St Michael and All AngelsClock
At a Public meeting held on the 21 January 1919 it was agreed that a clock would be installed in the tower of the church as a memorial to the fallen soldiers of Underwood and Bagthorpe. It was installed on 8 January 1920, having been built by Smiths of Derby. The opening ceremony took place on 14 February.
The clock has four dials, one on each side of the tower. Each dial rests between the two drip hoods of the unglazed window arches of the bell chamber. All four dials have the same design: a white opaque glazed central circle, with an inset six point star and a metal chapter ring, also glazed, with white opaque glass set within gold coloured glazing bars. The outer ring is of gold coloured metal with black dots between the Roman numerals, which are also black.
The clock is in working order but the hourly and half hour chime is currently inactive. The clock is not illuminated.
