Whatton St John of Beverley

Clock

The clock face

In 1910 the original clock was removed and one with a dial installed. A major overhaul was undertaken in 1933 which included painting and gilding the dial and putting in two steel wire weight lines. In 2001 repairs and fitting of an automatic winding system were carried out. A brass plate on the south wall of the chancel records this:

The trustees of the Friends of St John of Beverley parish Church, Whatton in the Vale donated the money to enable the work to repair and fit the automatic electric winding system of the church clock to celebrate the second millennium dedicated in the year of Our Lord 2001

The clock face is dark blue with gold roman numerals and is found on the east wall of the tower.
