Whatton St John of BeverleyStonework
Triassic Sherwood, pockmarked by the erosion of softer clay clasts has been used on the nave and aisles. At the clerestory level of the nave a sandstone quite yellowish brown in colour has been used. The chancel is constructed of dressed stone as are the upper parts of the tower, both show the marks of dressing by machine. The window mouldings are probably Lincolnshire limestone.
