Memorial to Frances Jane Longden, sister of John Sherwin, squire, of Bramcote Hills. She died 31 October 1858 so it seems likely that the east window, with its representation of the crucifixion, dates from the building of the church.

South Aisle

The small window at the eastern end of the south aisle is in memory of F.C. Smith (1823-1905) and his wife.

A brass plaque beneath the window reads:

IN LOVING MEMORY OF FREDERIC CHATFIELD SMITH
BORN JUNE 11TH 1823. ENTERED INTO REST, APRIL 20TH 1905.

 

ALSO OF HIS WIFE HARRIETT MATILDA.
BORN JUNE 10TH 1839. DIED AUGUST 9TH 1914.

The window depicts the infant Jesus in the arms of Simeon. F.C. Smith or Banker Smith as he was popularly known, was a member of the family which owned one of the oldest private banking concerns in the country, on South Parade, Nottingham. He lived in Bramcote Hall and was a generous supporter of the church and the village.

Memorial to John Hadden, died 11 October 1866 aged 60. He was buried in Bramcote Old Church Yard and the window was erected by his widow Eliza.

A brass plaque beneath the window reads:

To the glory of God and in
affectionate remembrance of John Hadden this window was erected
by his widow Eliza Hadden he died on the 11th of Oct 1866 aged 60 years
and was buried in Bramcote old churchyard

Stained glass window by 'T.F. Curtis, Ward & Hughes, London’, dated 1918.

It commemorates 2nd Lieutenant Stephen Hetley Pearson, 2nd Battalion Grenadier Guards, who was killed at the Battle of Gauche Wood on 1 December 1917.

The inscription at the bottom of the window reads:

To the Glory of God and in loving memory of 2nd Lt: S. Hetley Pearson
2nd Batt: Grenadier Guards killed in action Decr: 1st: 1917 aged thirty five years

Stained glass window by 'T.F. Curtis, Ward & Hughes, London’, dated 1919.

It commemorates Corporal John Strachan Pearson, New Zealand Machine Gun Corps, who died on active service in 1918. The inscription at the bottom of the window reads:

To the Glory of God and in loving memory of Corporal JOHN STRACHAN PEARSON New
Zealand Machine Gun Corps Who died on Active service of malaria at Alexandria Nov: 4th 1918 aged 36 years.

Detail Detail Blessing the children

The window commemorates Laura Kate Pearson (1855-1938) and was dedicated by the Bishop of Southwell on 2 June 1939. Reporting on the dedication service the Nottingham Evening Post provides a description of the subject matter:

'Its two panels, one of which depicts Christ blessing the children, and the other Christ giving a cup of cold water to a child, are symbolical of Mrs. Pearson’s main interests during her 25 years’ association with the parish—missionary work in China and total abstinence work. In the panel depicting the blessing of the children a prominent feature is a Chinese mother and her child, while in the other the drinking of water is the main theme, and included is a portrait of Mrs. Pearson dressed in appropriate robes.'

The inscription at the bottom of the window reads:

To the Glory of God and in loving memory of Laura Kate Pearson
Born March 3rd 1855 died October 19th 1938.

It was made by Hincks and Burnell of Nottingham

Stained glass window by 'T.F. Curtis, Ward & Hughes, London’, dated 1914. It portrays Moses and the Good Shepherd. The window is in memory of Henry John Pearson (1850-1913). Pearson was one of the founders, and chairman, of the Beeston Foundry Company, later reconstituted as the Beeston Boiler Company, Ltd.

The inscription at the bottom of the window reads:

In loving memory of Henry John Pearson Born 29th August 1850 Died 8th February 1913
