Chancel

On the north wall are three marble tablets commemorating members of the Buck family and a brass plaque to George Fisher.

George Fisher (died 1888):

To the Glory of God
and in memory of
GEORGE FISHER
who died on the 30th April 1912,
Aged 88 Years.
He was the Parish Clerk of
St Peter’s, Farndon for 37 years.

This Tablet was placed here
by the desire of his daughter
Annie Louisa who died at Farndon
on the 27th Feb. 1931, aged 68 years.

 

William Buck (died 1795), his wife, Catherine (died 1792) and their two children. The monument is by Wallis of Newark.

Sacred
To the Memory of
MR WILLIAM BUCK,
who died 17 Sep. 1795,
in the 95 year of his age.

And of his Wife
MRS CATHERINE BUCK,
who died on the 20 of Oct. 1792,
in the 63 year of her age.

Likewise of THOMAS and ANN,
their Children
who died in their infancy.

Thomas died at the age of 7 months and lies in the chancel; his stone reads ‘Here lieth the flower that cried, To be with Christ, and died’.

William Bowker Buck (died 1860):

ACCIDENTALLY DROWNED IN THE
RIVER TRENT,
APRIL 30TH 1860,
IN THE 19TH YEAR OF HIS AGE.

Next to the doorway leading to the Lady Chapel is a brass plaque in memory of Dorothy Cook who died in 1741:

South Aisle

Inside the church lies Samuel Peake Esq., the main landowner in the 18th century, who was laid to rest in the vault. The inscription on his monument reads:

NEAR this place lieth the Body
of SAMUEL PEAKE Esqr
who in the Year 1729 was
High Sheriff of this County.
He married ANN
only Daughter and Heiress of
WILLM GIRTON
of this Town Gent by whom
he had only one Son, GIRTON.
He died Janry 23d 1763
in the 71st year of his Age.
Also the Body of ANN Wife of
the said SAML PEAKE
She died Janry 25th 1764,
Aged 60.

At the west end of the south aisle are a group of monuments to the Brockton family.

On the west wall of the aisle is a monument to Samuel Hole Brockton (died 1863):

WHO DIED NOVEMBER 6TH 1863,
AGED 14 YEARS.

BLESSED ARE THE PURE IN HEART,

Mabel Mary Primrose March (nee Brockton):

TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN LOVING MEMORY OF
MABEL MARY PRIMROSE MARCH
WHO DIED 23RD OF JULY 1930.
THE ELDEST DAUGHTER OF THE LATE
WILLIAM RIPON BROCKTON AND MARY BROCKTON
OF THIS PARISH.
THE THREE SURVIVING SISTERS HAVE PLACED THIS TABLET HERE
AND ALSO INCREASED THE ENDOWMENT OF THIS CHURCH.

Mary Brockton (died 1922):

THIS TABLET IS PLACED HERE TO THE GLORY OF GOD,
AND IN AFFECTIONATE REMEMBRANCE OF THEIR MOTHER
BY THE FOUR SURVIVING DAUGHTERS OF MARY BROCKTON,
WHO DIED 17TH JUNE, 1922. AND OF JOHN CINLIFFE-LISTER,
3RD BARON MASHAM, HER SON-IN-LAW, WHO DIED
4TH JANUARY, 1924. AND OF HIS WIFE, ELIZABETH ALICE, WHO
DIED 28TH MAY, 1924.
THEY WERE MUCH BELOVED FOR THEIR GOOD AND
GENEROUS WORKS IN THIS CHURCH AND PARISH.

Near the font is a group of brass tablets commemorating members of the Girton family.

In the middle of the north wall there is a brass plaque to John McNaught Davis who died in 1924:

SHERWOOD RANGERS YEOMANRY FOR 40 YEARS
THIS TABLET IS ERECTED BY THE REGIMENT.

To the east of this is a brass plaque to Sir George Nicholls, his wife and his grandson:

HARRIETT NICHOLLS HIS WIFE, DAUGHTER
OF BROUGH MALTBY OF SOUTHWELL, AND WILLIAM

RESIDENT IN THIS PARISH. THIS NORTH AISLE

Attached to a churchwarden’s pew is a brass plate which reads:
