East Wall of Chancel

A brown rectangular marble tablet with an inset oval of white marble with the inscription:

In the memory of
JOHN BURNETT STUART of Dens. M.A.
Rector of Grappenhall, Cheshire.
and first Incumbent of this Church
who laboured unweariedly as a Minister of Christ
during forty years
and, after patiently enduring infirmity and suffering
for the remainder of his days
entered into his rest, Oct. 12. 1847 aged 72

His body is laid in the Churchyard of Lowdham
in this County
waiting for the resurrection
of the dead.

A vertical rectangular carved white / brown marble memorial, carved by Albert Toft.

An inset female figure carved from a darker marble, with arms out-stretched above her head. She is flanked by a square pilaster on each side which each capped by a square capital supporting a pediment topped by an arch. Beneath the figure and the pediments there is a panel with a gilded dedication.

His sister Jane Wainman 1775-1836.

His second wife Catherine 1762-1838.

And their infant son Richard Sykes–Duffy, 1832.
