St Christopher’s Church Records

Most of the church records including the registers have been deposited in the Nottinghamshire Records Office. The church does hold a file on its history, copies of old photographs, some old church magazines and faculty letters, plus miscellaneous documents.

St Christopher’s was a daughter church of nearby St Stephen’s. In 2004 bound copies of St Stephen’s Church magazine were still lodged in that church. They record much of the dialogue and activity that preceded St Christopher’s development from the 1880s onwards. A small amount of other material relating to St Christopher’s was also present in the vestry of St Stephen’s.

The first baptism on the present site was in the iron Mission church on 9 February 1902 when Francis Clarence Smith of Sneinton Boulevard was bought to the Church.
