Sutton cum Lound St Bartholomew

Bells

In the 14th century the church contained three bells; three bells were also recorded in 1764. The bells were augmented to six after 1967 and then further increased to 8 in 1998.

The three bells were hung in a cast iron frame made by Taylors in 1967. Augmentations occurred in the following two years.

One of the bells was originally from St Anne’s church in Lound.

Another was founded by John Taylor & Co in 1986.

One bell came from the redundant church of Christ Church Scarborough in 1979.

The bells were augmented from 6 to 8 in 1998 by Fred Pembleton.
