Description of the stones

The Annesley Park Estate is situated 6 miles South-west of Mansfield, at a height approximately 500 feet above sea-level, near the end of a spur of Bunter Sandstone known as the Robin Hood Hills, which at their peak of 600 feet, represent the highest land in Nottinghamshire.

The Bunter Sandstone is a reddish coloured or a buff coloured coarse-grained stone. Both types were used in the construction of the church at Annesley Park.
