Stonework

Information on the church from the Historic England's Building Stones of England Database states:

'Constructed of coursed rubble and ashlar, with ashlar dressings. Pinkish brown Magnesian Limestone of local origin features most extensively, being seen mainly in the walls of the nave and chancel and in the tower buttresses. The principal tower walling stone is a buff coloured, fine-grained sandstone originating from within either the Pennine Coal Measures Group succession or the Sherwood Sandstone Group (almost certainly of local origin in either case). Millstone Grit Group sandstones have seen localized use during the restoration episodes. Slate roofs.'
