War Memorial

No evidence of a war memorial being installed in St Alban’s Church has been found. Minutes of vestry meetings held 1919-1920 record several discussions regarding the intention to set up a memorial and the names of those who did not survive war service were collected, but no record was found of a memorial being ordered, installed or on the site. It is possible that the names were included on the two large war memorials at the mother church of St Stephen’s; one is inside St Stephen’s and the other, a large Calvary, is in the churchyard.
