The window is in memory of Robert Watkins of Kensington, London, who died in 1874 aged 54. He was the son of Samuel Watkins of Netherholme who was on St. John’s Building Committee. It was installed in May 1875 and was made by Lavers, Barrand and Westlake of Bloomsbury, London.

The east light shows Christ as Alpha and Omega; below is a scene depicting Christ and St John at the Last Supper.

The west light portrays St John the Evangelist; below is The Virgin Mary and St John at the Tomb.

Unusually there is a half-length portrait of a man in black at the bottom of the west light. Straw (1969) assumes this is Robert Watkins.
