Lenton Holy TrinityWar Memorial
In view of the original size of the parish of Holy Trinity and the number of parishioners who served in the Boer War (63) and the seven fatalities listed on the brass plaque below the memorial window (see Glass), it is unusual that no formal war memorials recording either World War I or World War II are present in the church or churchyard. Instead, the Lenton War Memorial was erected in 1919 on the corner of Sherwin Road and Church Street.
There is, however, a hand written document in the vestry listing the 99 service personal who did not return from World War II. It is mounted within a plain black edged frame with plain glass.

“They shall not grow old as we that are
left will grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor
the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the
morning, we will remember them.”
When you go home tell them of us and say
“ For their tomorrow we gave our today.”
Kohima Epitaph
