Floor Stone
There is an inscription on a stone in the centre aisle floor to the east
end of the nave, which reads:
Here Lieth the
Body of Elizth
Harvey who
departed this Life
October
ye 5th
In the Year of
our Lord 1764
Aged
74 Years |
Memorial Book
A Memorial Book was given in memory of Alfred Bruce Ellams 27th February
1908 – 20th December 1987.
Porch
Brass Plaque
There is a brass plaque on the wall to the right of the main door
which reads:
IN MEMORY OF
JAMES A. TADMAN, F.R.I.B.A.
ARCHITECT OF THIS CHURCH
1959-1977 |
Brass Plaque
To the left of the door is a brass plaque positioned on the wall safe:
Eroded Stone
There is a stone just inside the entrance which bore an inscription
to the memory of Henry Moore, but which is now so badly worn only the first
letter of each line is visible. The inscription, as recorded in 1935, read:
HENRY MOORE
MINISTER OF GOD
WO.............THIS CHURCH
WAS BURIED HERE THE
FIRST DAY OF APRILL
ANNO DOMINI 1689
AGED 68 |
It was noted, however, that even then, many of the letters were virtually
illegible.
