The wooden bellframe | Bellframe of 1987 | Mark of Henry II Oldfield |
The old Bell 6 |
Before the 1990s the back five bells were hung for ringing in a low sided wooden frame (see drawing), Elphick type V in anticlockwise; the treble was hung in a steel frame of 1987 above the others.
In the 1990s the bell frame was renewed and the bells rehung in a fabricated steel frame for 8 bells by Hayward Mills. A new number 7 bell was installed, cast by Taylors of Loughborough, and a treble number 1 bell was purchased from Kinoulton church.
Today the western tower contains a ring of 8 bells and a sanctus bell.
The old Bell 6 (cast in 1618) developed a crack and was replaced in 2013. It is now stored in the clock chamber.
