Bells

There are three bells in the tower but they are currently (2020) not used as the frame is too unsafe for them to be rung and the flue chimney for the central heating boiler obscures the swing of the treble.

The Edward VI inventory taken in 1552 records there were three bells and one handbell, and in 1722 it was stated ‘Ye great bell must be new rung [ie. cast] and hung’. In 1764 there were also three bells.
