Wollaton St LeonardList of Incumbents
This list, derived from Lists of the clergy of central Nottinghamshire, edited by K.S.S.Train and published in the Thoroton Society Record Series Volume XV (1953), was compiled and updated by Mary and Malcolm Stacey in 2013.
It slightly simplifies the information in Train by ignoring the confusing exchanges between Roger de Wylughby and Robert de Rempston, who each had two brief spells as Rector of Wollaton and Rector of Gamston. It also simplifies the situation around the Restoration in 1660 when the incumbencies of John Heywood and Samuel Kendall are difficult to determine. In 1679 the patron was Sir Henry Barnard, though frequently quoted in Train and elsewhere as Bernard.
Wollaton is one of a diminishing number of parishes which continue to have a private patron. The unbroken line of Willoughby family patrons since 4 November 1314 makes it even more distinctive.
