Chancel Floor

On the centre of the altar step, a brass plaque, lettering in black with red capitals:

To beautify the place of
the Altar,
at which he served as a Priest,
and in memory of his Father and Mother,
who there received the
Bread of Life,
Samuel Reynolds Hole,
Vicar of Caunton,
erected this window,
A.D. 1872

Note that the inscription around the chancel also commemorates Dean Hole.

Newark in this county on the first day of January 1816 aged 79 years

London on the fourth day of November 1850 aged 74 years
Also of Caroline Augusta fifth daughter of the above Samuel and Eliza
Ann Bristowe who died on the twentieth day of October [no year] aged 20 years
