Caunton St AndrewWar Memorials
Outdoor War MemorialThe main World War I Memorial is mounted on a wall to the right of the main gate to the churchyard, topped with an iron cross, and constructed from stones re-used after the 1869 Restoration as an inscription states:

Indoor MemorialsInside the church on the south wall of the aisle next to the font, there are two framed illuminated scrolls listing all the men and women of Caunton who served in the two World Wars.
World War IThe first is hand-written and annotated by the Revd John Tinkler, on a poster designed for this purpose inscribed at the head: FOR KING & COUNTRY and at the foot GOD SAVE THE KING On the margin of the frame at the top and bottom is painted: THE LIST OF ALL RANKS WHO SERVED FROM The table reads as follows, with the Revd Mr Tinkler’s annotations indicated in italics:

World War IIThe provenance of the second illuminated scroll, placed in the church in 1995, is explained by the dedication at the foot: This list was compiled by the churchwardens & Parochial
Church Council in collaboration with Caunton Local History Society & Caunton
Parish Council. It was dedicated as a celebration of 50 years peace on 16th
July 1995. The year in which both VE & VJ days were commemorated. At the foot of the decorative border: Caunton Residents At the head of the decorative border, above and below a picture of the parish church seen from the south: I have fought a good fight The names read:
