Prior to the restoration of the church in 1883-4 the nave contained a number of monuments. Godfrey (1884) provides a record of their inscriptions:
‘There were formerly several floor-stones in the chancel to various members of the Garland family, but these were probably removed when the church was repaved in 1807.
On the south wall of the now roofless nave, near to the west end, is a large oval tablet, thus inscribed :—
In Memory of George Blanchard the Son of
John and Ann Blanchard1
who departed this life
the 18th day of July, 1805,

The inscriptions on the slabs in the floor of the nave are as follows:—

(1) An inscription upon a floor-stone beneath adds that the above-named John Blanchard was Veterinary Surgeon in the Third, or King’s Own Regiment of Light Dragoons. The regiment was at that time quartered at the barracks in Nottingham Park. The Park was then extra-parochial, but by ancient custom those who died within the limits of the Park or Standard Hill were interred at Lenton. Numerous entries of the burials of soldiers who died at the barracks are to be found in the parish registers.'
