The church is built from Magnesian Limestone (Bulwell Stone) ashlar blocks with window and door frames from Ancaster Stone. Around the rose window and above the doors and widows with the exception of the South Porch is a blue lias sill band. The roof is of blue slate.

Other buildings in the area using similar stone are: St Andrew’s Church, Forest Road and St Andrew’s with Castlegate United Reform Church on Goldsmith Street.
