Stonework

The Nottingham & Midland Counties Daily Express included a description of the building materials used in its report on the consecration of the church on 3 November 1864:

'The material used throughout the body of the church is a Derbyshire stone, popularly known as Coxbench; with dressings of white Ancaster stone; and bands of red Mansfield stone. The roof is high-pitched, and covered with red and blue Staffordshire tiles … the churchyard, which is of limited area, is enclosed by Bulwell stone walls.'
